奈良の町家で、je et nousを2003年より営んでいます。
隣の小さな畳の空間「ジュエヌ別室」では、
1950年から1980年頃に生まれた昭和の工芸品を中心に蒐集しています。
同じ技術であっても、
同じ感性ではもう作られないもの。
一つひとつの手仕事に込められた密度や、
素材が持つ温度に、何度も立ち止まります。
三十年、美術品に携わるなかで、
改めて昭和の美しさに惹かれ、
この空間にまとめました。
大きな作品ではなく、
手のひらに収まるものが多い。
けれどそこには、
確かな「美の記憶」が息づいていると感じています。
I have been running je et nous in Nara since 2003, inside a Japanese townhouse that is over one hundred years old.
For more than 30 years, I have worked as an art dealer, handling and studying objects rooted in Japan’s craft traditions.
Next to the main shop is je et nous Annex, a small tatami-room gallery dedicated to works from the mid-Showa period, mainly between the 1950s and 1980s.
Although the techniques may still exist today, the sensibility that shaped these works does not.
I collect and preserve small-scale pieces — decorative compacts and finely crafted objects that fit in the palm of the hand — because they quietly carry the aesthetic memory of their time.
This website functions as a cultural archive of those works and of the encounters that brought them here.
